Meet Our Pastors
 

Tom was raised in a home on Anchor Bay in Fair Haven, Michigan with six sisters and one brother. Always being around people was normal life for Tom! Later on, after getting out of the Navy, Tom went to their family cabin in northern Michigan. It was there he met his wife Marsha Beamish. She was raised in Fairview, Michigan and was working in Saginaw for Michigan Bell Telephone at that time. After a short courtship they were married in 1968 and have been together for 51 years. They have raised 3 children: Tom Jr., Jennifer, and Steffanie and have 4 grandsons.

For several years, during a difficult time in life, the Holy Spirit was pursuing Tom. Because of Tom’s Catholic upbringing this was very different to him. It was in a special service, during the Charis-matic renewal that God’s Spirit moved on Tom to reveal Himself personally. It was during that meeting, on April 4th, 1980, that Tom heard the Holy Spirit say “Tom , follow me” and he responded and is still following!

Over the next 15 years while raising their family, Tom and Marsha served in churches. As they were learning, and helping two other Pas­tors in the areas of Sunday school teaching, leading youth and worship, becoming assistant Pastor, and interim Pastor, Tom’s call was de­fined. It was after serving other visions, that in 1995, the Lord spoke to Tom and Marsha that it was time for them to plant a new church in Standish, Michigan. Tom and Marsha then connected with Paul Tucker as an overseer to the ministry and church plant. Tom was still em­ployed at Consumers Energy as a forestry supervisor. He continued to do this from the time Abundant Life Church was planted, until he re­tired from Consumers Energy in 2008. He continues to Pastor Abundant Life Church along with Marsha, the Assistant Pastor. From the begin­ning ALC has continued to experience moves of the Holy Spirit that have brought growth and gathered in the generations. The church moved into their newly constructed building in 2005. The prophetic word, dreams and visions, presence focused worship, and strong preaching focus have given the church a regional influence. The vision is to serve and equip four generations of saints to do the ministry they are called to do. (Eph. 4:11) By this a sure foundation is being laid for the ongoing church of the future. ALC is a church of vibrant worship expression and the moving of the gifts of the Spirit among the people, so that the full expression of God speaking through His people may be manifest.

Tom has traveled to Haiti and Pikangikum, Ontario to assist ministries there. Together Tom and Marsha have made ministry trips to the Philippines, and recently 2 trips to Croatia, part of the former Yugoslavia, as well as Israel. They both move in prophetic and healing gifts as well as in teach­ing. Personally Tom enjoys carving wood duck decoys, hunting, fishing, golf and being the Pastor of Abundant Life Church.
